It took us a while to venture over from Four Winds to try Heston’s. Best snap decision imaginable. Aside from the appearance which is classic for a midwestern supper club, trom the start the courtesy and friendliness of the staff from front of house to bar to table was first rate. Bar staff makes a proper martini. Choices relative to beers and wines covered a good range at a reasonable price. Cheese spread to start is an old-school perk that doesn’t disappoint. Soups scratch and excellent. Side salads more than generous in size and very fresh. Went for one of the combos with walleye and steak while my spouse had walleye and prime rib. The turf part of the combo was larger, in my opinion, than indicated on the menu. Fish and beef were both excellent. On future visits, we tried the crab cakes, perch, prime rib, and dry rub BBQ ribs. Two sauces are brought to accompany the BBQ. Didn’t need either. The ribs were smoked perfectly and, for flavor, the rub was enough. Have also tried the smaller portions part of the menu as a main course in order to try out the appetizer section and it’s a good thing I did because the serving of calamari was generous to a fault and it was perfectly prepared. Have had half-shell oysters and they have always been excellent. On a Saturday for sure, be prepared to either show up at opening or wait quite a while for a table, but it’s really worth it. Plenty of parking. Clean restrooms.
